TEXT_The town of Ban St Martin near Metz suffers from a sense of isolation and the lack of true public spaces. By redeveloping the former military barracks at the heart of the town the municipal authorities have given themselves the opportunity to readdress how the town works as a whole.
Our team proposes the creation of a new centre around a large public square which both restructures the town and becomes the entrance to a new regional park.
With its two newly designed façades and new facilities, this square becomes the town’s new heart. A sober and elegant reorganisation allows the square to play a number of roles and become a meeting place suited to all large municipal events.
The large park plays an important role in the layout of the town, in particular through the creation of the Avenue du Parc. This establishes both a new entrance to the town of Ban St Martin and - thanks to the close links between the park and the adjacent districts - a strong sense of urban dynamics.
