Zunyi, a historic city in Central China, is rapidly developing and its process of urbanisation is a beneficiary of the national strategy of “Development to the West”.
An inter-urban express train is being designed and this will give the City of Zunyi the opportunity to build a new district to the east of the historic centre, on the urban axis along the Xiang River.
The project comprises three functional zones: to the west, the station district in connection with the town centre; in the valley to the east, an urban residential district and, in the mountains to the north, an area of sustainable housing.
In order to preserve and upgrade the site’s natural resources (mountains, valley and river), the office created the concept of an “urban clearing”, which offers every inhabitant a view out onto nature.
