TEXT_The area of the study which is located to the north of Metz is strongly characterised by the fact that it is largely isolated by the three major infrastructural elements which become the three main axial features of the project:
- The creation of a new service and commercial hub which is focussed and organised along the A31 motorway and includes the redevelopment of the Alliés sector, the area around the motorway interchange, the Chemin de la Moselle district and the Thionville highway.
- The creation of a multimodal hub focussed on the station and the TER railway line which includes the arrival point of the tramway and offers the possibility of redeveloping new mixed-use districts in the available areas to the north of the tracks and redefining the centrality of the la Patrotte district in a way which gives it a new dynamism.
- The creation of a new linear park along the freight line which incorporates existing green spaces and develops a new green infrastructure including walking routes and leisure facilities, and enjoys connections with the Ban-Saint-Martin Park and the banks of the Moselle.
The main objectives of placing these three new/old infrastructural elements at the heart of the project are to blur the barriers which they generate, to enable them to realise their inherent potential and to establish a new level of intensity which will, in turn, drive a more general renewal of the “triangle”.
